Now in its 6th year of business, production house Hangar 18 Media is thriving partnership between two well-established and internationally recognized Canadian companies – Raven Banner Entertainment and ‍9 Light Film Capital

With a shared vision of leveraging their combined years of experience to develop and produce genre films in-house, Hangar 18 can thereby ensure complete creative control from inception to final delivery. Recent original productions include Nail in the Coffin: The Fall & Rise of Vampiro, Spare Parts, The Breach, The Fight Machine, and Junction Row which is currently in post.

In addition to creating original content, Hangar 18 Media also provides production services for Canadian, US, and International projects, as well as seeking out co-production opportunities with global partners. It was this initiative that led to the production of three Shudder Original Films – V/H/S 94, Sorry About The Demon, and the recently released Brooklyn 45 which had its World Premiere at SXSW 2023.

Raven Banner Entertainment

Led by partners Michael Paszt, Andrew Thomas Hunt and James Fler, Raven Banner is a worldwide sales company specializing in elevated genre films. Now entering its 13th year of business Raven Banner is highly respected in the industry with a mandate to not just focus on the success of a film, but to help foster emerging talent. With a growing roster of over 150 films, Raven Banner regularly attends markets such as Cannes, AFM, EFM, Ventana Sur, and FilmArt, as well as festivals such as TIFF, SXSW, Fantasia, and Fantastic Fest. Collectively they’ve produced, directed, and/or executive produced over 30 feature films including Psycho Goreman, Trench 11, It Came From The Desert, For The Sake of Vicious, and Sundance breakout hit Turbo Kid.

9 Light Entertainment

‍9 Light Entertainment has been involved in Canadian independent film production since 2015. Founded by Pasha Patriki, an award-winning cinematographer and director with 20+ years of experience, 9 Light has been involved in the production of over half a dozen indie projects, festival darlings, and broadcast TV feature films since its inception. Additionally, Pasha is the founder of Red Square Motion, which changed its name to PurpleDOG Post Production in 2020, the company is a full-service post-production house that specializes in colour grading, visual effects, and digital deliveries.

Team

Pasha Patriki

First receiving recognition for his work as a cinematographer in 2000, Pasha has been in film his entire life. Working as camera operator on Reality-Shows like The Outlaw In-laws (Slice Network), and later as a DOP on numerous TV shows and indie feature films, Pasha since then developed a unique visual style which was often noted by film critics in movie reviews, and received numerous internationally-recognized awards, the most recent being “Best TV Drama Cinematography” at the CSC Awards – for his work on Netflix’ Exclusive feature “Gridlocked”, starring Dominic Purcell and Danny Glover.

Pasha is also the CEO of  9 Light Film Capital and founder of PurpleDOG Post Production (formerly Red Square Motion), along with the addition of new partners and co-owners, the company is a full-service post-production house that specializes in colour grading, visual effects, and digital deliveries.

Since 2016, Pasha has produced numerous Canadian films in budget range from $2 mil to $10 mil, most recent being The Breach, starring Allan Hawco (Republic Of Doyle) and Executive Produced by legendary musician Slash (who is also the composer on the film). Pasha has also served as Canadian Service Producer for a number of international production and co-productions, most notably the recent “V/H/S 94” sequel of the smash hit V/H/S franchise.

Andrew Thomas Hunt

Andrew T Hunt is an award-winning Writer/Producer/Director with over 20 years experience in the film and television industry. Andrew’s feature-length directorial debut “Sweet Karma” premiered at the 2009 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, garnering praise and kudos from press and industry insiders alike and was the catalyst for the formation of Raven Banner Entertainment. In 2018 Andrew got behind the camera again as director for his sophomore feature Spare Parts which had its World Premiere at Korea’s prestigious BIFAN Film Festival and its European Premiere at Sitges. Andrew’s third feature film as director, The Fight Machine, based on acclaimed author Craig Davidson’s novel “The Fighter” had its World Premiere at Fantasia Fest, Montreal July 2022 where it won the Gold Audience Award for Best Canadian Feature.

James Fler

James Fler has taken a decidedly different path to the film industry than his partners have. A successful entrepreneur for over 20 years in a variety of different industries, James’s business sense and creative eye has allowed him to build an impressive professional portfolio, and reputation. At Raven Banner James oversees worldwide sales, having quickly established professional relationships with some of the industry’s leading distribution companies (Sony, IFC, Magnolia, Lionsgate, to name but a few) and has direct contact with the key players. As well, James annually attends all the major world markets and festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, AFM, and TIFF.

Michael Paszt

With more than 10 years experience in the field of international distribution, Michael Paszt is one of the most respected names in the area of independent film. As head of Raven Banner Entertainment Michael will be responsible for driving film prospect discovery in global sales markets and international film festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, and Toronto International Film Festival to name a few. Key to his success is a disciplined and proven strategic evaluation process, enabling the selection of film properties ideally suited to the unique needs and preferences of global, regional and national markets.
